Is pain or stress affecting your life?

At Bloom, we make high quality acupuncture affordable, so you can come as often as needed, get the results you want, and take back your life.

Our Mission

We believe that everyone should have access to high quality, reasonably priced healthcare, including complementary medicine such as acupuncture. We're committed to providing you with individualized acupuncture treatments, designed specifically for your needs - every time. We treat people in comfy recliners in a friendly communal space, with a “pay what you can” sliding scale of $30-$50. And we partner with you to help you reach your healthcare goals, whatever they may be.

At Bloom, we welcome all people. Your care will always be based upon our respect for you as an individual. We ask that while in the clinic, you also respect others, and use care to keep sounds to a minimum so that everyone may enjoy a relaxing break from their hectic lives. We are committed to you and to maintaining a space where you feel safe and comfortable taking a nap, meditating, listening with your headphones to music or simply viewing nature overlooking our private woods.

We appreciate those who help keep the people of Annapolis and the surrounding areas safe.

Bloom is continuing our tradition of free acupuncture for veterans and active duty military, and sonce the pandemic, we include firefighters, paramedics and police officers as well. These free treatments are available on Tuesdays AND Thursdays.

Appointments are required for everyone. The online Intake Form must be completed before your first appointment. And proof of eligibility and picture ID are needed when you arrive for your first appointment.

Our Policies

Appointments are Required. Our last appointment of each day is scheduled 45 minutes before closing. *People who were former patients of our previous clinic, Annapolis Community Acupuncture (ACA), will need to initially make a New Patient Appointment, which will trigger a reminder to complete the online Intake form, required before your first appointment. We are a completely paperless clinic, and the online paperwork cannot be completed in the clinic at your appointment. Former ACA patients only pay the Returning Patient fee for that first treatment. We have online booking to make scheduling as easy as possible. You may book your first appointment right now by clicking on the “Book an Appointment” button.  This is the fastest way to schedule for all appointments. You may schedule up to 12 appointments if desired.  Important: For each person's first appointment at Bloom, they must complete the online Intake form before their appointment!

If you need help scheduling, or have medical questions you want to discuss first, you have two options:

1. If you have medical or other personal (HIPPA-related) private questions please email Mina at our HIPPA secure MailHippo server. Please enter your email address in the "From" box when using this link MailHippo.com

2. If you simply need help scheduling, but have no medical or private questions, you may use Mina’s administrative email, Mina@BloomCommAcu.com, or call Bloom at (443) 951-1575. Please be aware that it may not be possible for me to return your call during business hours, as I am providing acupuncture treatments to people in the clinic.

If you are having a lot of pain, consider wearing or bringing shorts, because acupuncture points on the thighs may be even more helpful for you. (It's ok if you choose not to bring shorts).

When you come to the clinic, please avoid wearing scents, as some people are sensitive or allergic.

Please silence your cell phone before entering the building. Noisy shoes and jewelry can be disturbing and wake people who are napping during their treatment.

Please do not knock – people are likely already napping during their treatment. Simply walk in and get settled in a recliner. Feel free to grab a blanket and get comfy. We are committed to respecting you and your time, and we strive to start your appointment on time.

Please be aware that we do have security cameras outside. However, there are no cameras inside the clinic, and patients are not permitted to take pictiures of other people getting treatment. Your acupuncturist will be happy to take pictures of you with your needles in place, should you wish her to do so.

We do not have a waiting room, which was a conscious choice to minimize the number of people in the clinic (since we began building the clinic during the pandemic). If you have a driver, they will need to wait in their vehicle during your treatment.

Please do not leave your children or pets unattended in your car, on our front porch, in our yard or in our neighborhood. If your children or pets are unattended, your appointment will have to be rescheduled. While this is a very safe and quiet neighborhood, the safety of your children and pets is the most important consideration.

Please do not park on the opposite side of the street. We want to be good neighbors!

If you cancel with less than 12 hours till your appointment, or miss your appointment (No Show), you will be charged our Cancellation Fee of $30. That fee may be charged on your credit card on file or placed on your account (payable at your next appointment). If you become ill or think you may have Covid-19 within the 12-hour window before your next appointment, please let us know ASAP, so that someone else may use that appointment. We do not charge a cancellation fee for illness or possible Covid-19.

Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept Cash, Check or Credit Card (including FSA and HSA cards).

We recommend that you add a credit card to your Intake form. This helps reduce time processing your payment during each appointment, and leaves more time for you to relax during your treatments. Your acupuncturist will ask you what you want to pay within our sliding scale.

Our returned check fee is $20.

Insurances: We do not bill insurances; submit paperwork to insurances; or accept payment from them. We strongly recommend you call your insurance and verify acupuncture coverage ahead of time. We cannot guarantee that our services will be reimbursed.

VA, Medicare and Medicaid: We do not bill, submit paperwork to, or accept payment from them.

NOTE TO MEDICARE PATIENTS: Medicare now covers 12+ acupuncture treatments per year, only for low back pain which has NO KNOWN CAUSE. We do not bill Medicare. You can locate an acupuncturist who does bill Medicare by doing a Google search online for a physician who does acupuncture (a medical acupuncturist), or an acupuncturist who works in a physician's office (so the physician can bill Medicare). If desired, you can come to Bloom for other non-Medicare covered acupuncture services at a later date.

FSA / HSA Accounts: Acupuncture is often an eligible expense under flexible spending (FSA) and health care spending (HSA) accounts.

RECEIPTS:   We are happy to email a receipt to you, so we will need to have an email address on file. We cannot text receipts to you, as texts are never secure. We would be happy to provide a receipt with the diagnosis and procedure codes emailed to you after each treatment. You can then submit the receipts to your Insurance, your FSA/HSA account, or use them for your tax records.

Covid-19 Policies: Effective May 15, 2023

Masks are optional for patients and our acupuncturist, in keeping with current health department guidelines. You are welcome to wear a mask if you wish to do so. We have some commercially wrapped 3 ply surgical masks available, if needed. You may request that your acupuncturist wear a mask while treating you and while removing your needles (or when we are in close contact). We will be happy to accomodate your request. Just let us know!

HYGIENE IN THE CLINIC

There are 7 recliners in the clinic, and they are at least 8 feet apart. People can choose to really spread out in the clinic if desired, or be close to family or friends.

Hand sanitizer is available for use through-out the clinic.

Recliners, ottomans and patients’ tables are wiped down after each use.

Blankets are freshly laundered for each patient.

Frequently touched surfaces in the clinic, including doorknobs and the restroom are sanitized regularly.

5 high-flow HEPA filters are located in the clinic/entrance. These filter particles less than 0.1 microns, the size of the Covid-19 virus (and they help mask sounds too).

We are no longer sending out a brief Covid-19 screening questionnaire 4 hours before each appointment as a text message. If the CDC and AA County Department of Health require it, we will resume sending the Covid-19 questionnaire.

To keep our community safe, please reschedule if:

- you feel ill;

- you have any symptoms of Covid-19 (fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache or new loss of taste or smell);

- you have symptoms but have tested negative for Covid-19: Please wait until your symptoms have subsided to come in for treatment;

- you currently have seasonal allergies or other conditions and cannot control your coughing or sneezing.

We also have an OPTIONAL Survey: " How may I help you"?

It's a 1-2 minute survey which is transmitted electronically to you via text 4 hours before your appointment. In the past, we would get texts, voice mails, and paper notes from people before or during their appointment, because they wanted to share personal, private or even sensitive information. So we created this survey for you to be able to do that if desired. If you complete the survey, it's transmitted directly into your medical record before your appointment. I can access that information before or during your appointment.

This is completely optional. You can simply press delete if you don't need it. But if you do want to let us know something securely before your appointment, this is a way to do so.

It's my hope that this will survey will leave you more time to relax during treatment. I welcome feedback about this new option for you.

Welcome to Bloom Community Acupuncture!

Mina is grateful to be able to open Bloom Community Acupuncture, formerly known as Annapolis Community Acupuncture (ACA) which was closed due to the pandemic.

While we have a new name, new logo and new location, we remain deeply committed to providing high quality, affordable acupuncture and the same level of service that we provided when we were known as Annapolis Community Acupuncture.

Bloom Community Acupuncture, LLC opened on May 22, 2023!

Schedule An Appointment

Welcome to Bloom's New Clinic!

1714 Woodlore Rd. Annapolis, MD 21401

Appointments are Required.

Please park on the street, directly in front of our building, facing the way you came (from Epping Forest Rd). There is plenty of space for 5 cars to park directly in front of the clinic. Please do not park in front of our neighbor's house across the street, as they need that space for their family and friends. We want to be a good neighbor!

Walk to the driveway and use the cobblestone path to get to the clinic's front porch. The front yard was heavily wooded with huge trees and roots, and some of those roots couldn't be removed and are still hidden in the grass. Please be careful and stay on the driveway and cobblestone path. And avoid blocking the mailbox or driveway.

Please silence your cell phone before you enter the building. There's no need to knock. Others are already napping during their treatment. Just walk in quietly, and get settled in a comfy recliner. There are nature views from both clinic rooms and plenty of recliners. We are committed to being respectful of your time, and I will be with you shortly.

In joy,

Mina Johns
