Mina Johns is the owner and founder of Bloom Community Acupuncture, and for 10+ years, she owned Annapolis Community Acupuncture, which closed due to the pandemic. Mina is licensed by the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture and holds a Master of Acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute, now known as the Maryland University of Integrative Health. Mina also has a Master of Science degree in Human Resources from Chapman University. Her undergraduate degrees are a Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Administration and an Associate degree in Nursing. Mina is a retired Registered Nurse, with a diverse clinical and administrative background, most recently in hospice and palliative care. Mina is committed to bringing high quality, affordable acupuncture to people living in the Greater Annapolis Area. For 9 years, Mina’s former clinic, Annapolis Community Acupuncture, provided free treatments every week for veterans and active-duty personnel. Mina is committed to giving back again to those who put themselves on the line to protect the people of Annapolis and the surrounding area.
Mina specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, and in the care of people who have chronic and/or life-threatening illnesses, utilizing the Balance Method. This method uses acupuncture points on the arms, legs and head to treat pain and other concerns anywhere in the body. These include internal medicine issues, (such as insomnia, fatigue, stress, allergies, digestive issues, etc.). It is not necessary to have painful, sensitive or private parts of your body needled directly. The Balance Method allows you to stay fully clothed and use a more affordable option, Community Acupuncture.
In her spare time, Mina enjoys spending time with her husband of almost 50 years, Ric, and their 14 yr old Corgi mix PJ. Mina loves to read, garden, and be in nature. Mina and Ric are passionate about animals, especially dogs, and have been dog foster parents over the years. They also have sponsored many midshipmen from USNA since 2005.
Mina commits every day to living by this saying from Thich Nhat Hahn, Vietnamese Buddhist Monk, Peace Activist, and founder of many monasteries, including Plum Village in the south of France.
“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-hour brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion”.
